Lost in the mist of antiquity, somewhere between speculation and fact, lies the true history of the Irish Warpipes. What was their origin? From whence did they come? Who played them? What did they first look like? Have they changed over the years? What was the role of the Irish Warpiper, in war, peace, in community? On this website, we will seek to explore a variety of sources of information, some of which may be factual, some speculation, and some, perhaps, even whispers of legend. Scholars will undoubtedly continue to debate this segment of history for a long time to come, as the origins of bagpipes, or some version thereof, have been linked to a variety of countries.
